The Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrival at Laugaland
- Arrival by bus to Hólmavík. Transfer to Laugaland. Dinner altogether at the farm. Getting to know each other. Read more
- Day 2: Laugaland to Tyrðilmýri (5 hrs travelling)
- Riding down the valley of Skjaldfannardalur, crossing the glacial fjord of Kaldalón at low tide and then going on to Tyrðilmýri. Overnight in a house.
- Day 3: Tyrðilmýri to Grunnavík (8-10 hrs travelling)
- Riding along the shore Snæfjallaströnd. Crossing the plateau of Snæfjallaheiði. Descending to the small bay of Grunnavík. Overnight in a house.
- Day 4: Grunnavík to Furufjörður (8-9 hrs travelling)
- Crossing the low plateau Staðarheiði. Crossing the fjord Leirufjörður, riding along the fjord Hrafnfjörður, crossing the plateau Skorarheiði, decending into Furufjörður. Overnight in the tent.
- Day 5: Furufjörður to Reykjarfjörður (5 hrs travelling)
- Ascend to the pass of Svartaskarð, descending to the fjord Þaralátursfjörður, crossing the mountain of Reykjafjarðarháls and coming down to the fjord Reykjarfjörður. Staying in an old farmhouse the next two nights. Read more
- Day 6: Reykjarfjörður
- Rest day. Options to bath in the hot spring, walk in the surroundings, small horse tour or a boat trip to the huge bird-cliff Hornbjarg. Read more
- Day 7: Reykjarfjörður to Drangar (7 hrs travelling)
- Crossing the mountain of Geirólfsgnúpur, descend to the base of Skalda-Bjarnarvík, crossing the fjord Bjarnarfjörður and arriving at Drangar. Overnight in the tent. Read more
- Day 8: Drangar to Laugaland (10-11 hrs travelling)
- Climb from the valley of Meyjardalur, crossing the icecap of Drangajökull glacier and descend to the valley of Skjaldfannardalur, returning home to Laugaland (for hundreds of years farmers living in the area of Ísafjarðardjúp used to drag driftwood from Strandir area back over this glacier). Bath in the hot spring and dinner all together. Read more
- Day 9: Departure from Laugaland
- Brunch all together. During the day (depending on the bus timetable) farewell from Laugaland and transfer to Hólmavík. Read more
